INTRODUCTION

Many of those in the teaching profession wish to deepen and broaden their understanding of education and how best they can improve their skills in imparting knowledge and values to their students.
The main objective of the Bachelor of Education (Arts) programme is to provide an opportunity for diploma holders in education, to develop the understanding of what education means, and how best to create schools that are centres of excellence.
The educational aims of the programme are:
• To prepare and equip students with knowledge, skills and competence to the level where they can make a professional contribution to the organization and management of schools.
• To assist students to develop practical skills in the analysis of concepts and practices related to educational theory and practice.
• To prepare students to undertake higher and professional roles in school administration and management thus enhancing their career opportunities and achieving self-development, as well as advancing their country.

ENTRY QUALIFCATIONS

Prospective candidates must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
• Must have a diploma in education from a recognized university/higher learning institute.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The programme consists of 12 module core courses which each carry a weight of one topic; as well as a TWO sets of subject modules, (each comprising four modules each), which a student must select from. They are in the following areas: History, Geography, English Literature, English Language, Religious Studies, and Ecomomics.
